Odds are that your pool is covered with debris, leaves and dirt. You might also notice some rust stains that need to be cleaned before continuing. Even the most minor residue left behind can ruin your resurfacing project. Once you remove most of the debris, it’s a good idea to pressure wash the pool to remove any stains and algae left behind.
In order to repaint pool walls, it is important that the plaster be in good condition. The plaster surface should first be cleaned with muriatic Acid. Next, rinse the plaster with TSP (trisodiumphosphate). Take extreme care when using TSP or muriatic and follow all manufacturer's directions. The old paint must also be compatible with new paint. Rubberized latex paint won’t adhere to epoxy, but vice versa.
It usually takes 5-7 days for pool resurfacing to be completed. Sometimes, the process of pool resurfacing can be hampered by bad weather and can take up to 14 working days.
